AIM/MSN/Yahoo: SanjiKuroashi
Character: Rockman/Megaman X
Fandom: Megaman X
Time period: Post-X5
Character Background: X was created by Dr. Thomas Light in the year 200X in order to protect humans and to bring around a revolutionary new era where humans and robots could live in peace. However, due to how advanced X was, Light feared that the world was not yet ready for a robot like him – one able to think, feel and make their own decisions. He was also unsure on X’s integrity, fearing that if he were to break the First Law of Robotics (To never harm a human) that the consequences would be catastrophic. As a result of this, he sealed X away in a capsule to test his integrity – a test that would have to run for at least 30 years, far beyond Light’s expected life span. He died before the tests were completed...
Roughly a hundred years later, the blue android was found by Dr. Cain and despite the warnings on the terminal, the scientist released X. With X’s help, he created more robots based on X’s design – robots that could think, feel, and make their own decisions and these robots became known as ‘Reploids’...
Not long after this, some of the Reploids became infected with a virus rebelling against the humans – these Reploids being called ‘Mavericks’. With this new threat a new organization was formed known as the ‘Maverick Hunters’. X eventually joined the Maverick Hunters, feeling responsible for the Mavericks. After all, it was with his help that the Reploids were created... If it wasn’t for him, he felt this would have never occurred.
While in the Maverick Hunters, X came to know Zero. The two became quite close, Zero being both a mentor and a very close friend to the blue android. Shortly after joining the Maverick Hunters, a highly advanced Reploid known as Sigma went Maverick. He lured both X and Zero into a missile base, where he eventually launched the missiles into Able City – destroying much of the city as well as killing Dr. Cain – and stating that because X could not get himself to shoot Sigma, that it was his fault...
Zero and X pursued Sigma, as well as the escaped ex-Maverick Hunter Vile (whom had joined Sigma). Zero had fought (and lost) against Vile, being used as bait for X. Once X had come, Vile nearly defeated him. At least until Zero broke free, and self-destructed...Therefore destroying Vile’s armor and enabling X to defeat the ex-Hunter. Despite the pain he felt at the loss of his friend and mentor, he pushed forward to defeat Sigma. Little did he know that this was only the first fight in the long war against Sigma and his Mavericks that lay ahead...
Six months later another group of Mavericks (whom had named themselves the ‘X-Hunters’) had began to gather the parts required to rebuild Zero as bait to lure X to them. X defeated the X-Hunters only to realize that it was Sigma behind the plot all along, defeating him while the newly restored Zero went on to destroy Sigma’s central computer.
After this, the Maverick Hunters experienced a period of peace due to a supposed ‘cure’ for the Maverick Virus, created by Dr. Doppler. The cure turned out to be a fake, only holding off the virus... and as a result, there was a sudden uprising of Maverick activity. They eventually find out that the virus is actually Sigma – explaining why he kept returning. X and Zero defeated the body that had been built by Dr. Doppler (whom was infected with the virus), once more defeating Sigma.
The Maverick Hunters didn’t have a chance to rest after this, due to a disagreement between the Maverick Hunters and a faction known as the ‘Repliforce’ causing a war between them. Sigma was once more behind this, though X had been distracted from the true threat by a spy of Sigma’s known as Double. Zero, instead, stumbled upon the truth going on to destroy Sigma himself.
Upon discovering Double’s deceit, X became infuriated and destroyed Double. As a result he became afraid that he was losing his sanity, and as he started to return to the Maverick Hunters headquarters, he asks Zero to destroy him if he were to ever go Maverick. Zero simply tells him not to ask silly questions, and to return home before just cutting the communication connection.
Once more the Maverick Hunters find themselves with a moment of peace, using this time to rebuild themselves and hiring several new Hunters. However, once more, the peace was not meant to last. Sigma had once more returned, and once more X fought against him. This time, however, it turned out to be a trap and X ends up (unintentionally) spreading the Sigma Virus (formerly known as the ‘Maverick Virus’) across the Earth. After this, it’s learned that Sigma intends to send the space colony ‘Eurasia’ into the Earth to further spread the virus with intentions on awakening Zero’s true self.
The Maverick Hunters attempt to destroy the space colony first using a canon – which ultimately fails. Their next choice is to send a manned shuttle into the colony – and Zero is chosen as the pilot. He is partially successful in his mission, though as a result of being further exposed to the Virus (which it is learned that Zero is the true source of the virus – he had passed it to Sigma during a fight before he’d became a Hunter. . ) his ‘true’ self emerges. X is forced to fight his closest friend as a result, though in the end Zero comes to his senses. Sigma once more makes his reappearance, badly injuring the two reploids before seemingly being defeated. X had pulled his friend into his arms, pleading for him not to die before taken by surprise as Sigma speaks up once more before a blast is fired through both X and Zero. X is left unconscious, though Zero regains his consciousness just long enough to fire one last blast at Sigma, destroying him before lamenting on the loss of X and ‘expiring’ himself.
Though X had been unaware of it, Light had (somehow?) repaired him... When he wakes up in the crater of the Eurasia, the only thing left of Zero was his Saber...Which X takes to keep the memory of his friend close...
Third Person Example: He held the other in his arms, crying out his companion’s name desperately. This . . . couldn’t. . .be happening. . .! It felt as if everything around him had come to a sudden halt, as if nothing else mattered any more. He pleaded for the other to respond . . . to give any sign that he was still alive. . .He couldn’t imagine not having Zero by his side. . . He heard another voice suddenly cut through the air, his eyes widening in fear before suddenly. . .
“. . .X!”
. . . a sharp pain cut through his chest. . . ‘ . . . X. . X. . .’
“. . . do you hear me?”
“ . . . Zero. . .?” The name escaped his lips as he opened his eyes to find himself in the small room he used as his private quarters. No Sigma. No Zero. He was the only one in the room.
“. . . This is Alia, X. . . We have an emergency; please report to the Briefing Room immediately!”
The sapphire-hued Reploid seemed to regain his senses at this; Zero was gone, after all . . . Emerald eyes shut a moment, a soft sad sigh escaping him before he responded to the other’s call. “ . . I’ll be there shortly.”
He started out of the room, pausing only a moment to pick up the saber that had once been his friend’s. It was the only thing they had found of Zero’s. The other Reploid had disappeared. Not even a scrap remained . . . His grip tightened on the weapon as he began his way towards the briefing room.
First Person Example: Things have been pretty boring around base – well, ignoring the whole incident with someone sticking magnets to Signas’ butt. . . I can’t help but wonder who had the guts to do that... And how they got away with it. I’m jealous of their skills, whoever they are. Bet they’ll be in loads of trouble once he finds out though... I’m surprised he didn’t notice them there!
Maybe he got on the wrong side of Alia? But I really can’t see her doing something like that...
It’s been pretty lonely around here without Zero though... It’s hard to believe that 3 years have passed since the Eurasia incident... Time flies sometimes, I guess...
...Ah...Darn. Alia is calling me to the briefing room, so I guess I’ll just end this here... Maybe they’ll have a mission for me?
